Banners are up on Dixie

Banners are up on Dixie

We have over 50 avenue banners up on Dixie Hwy now and are moving on to Phase 2, which includes the New Cut Road Corridor, Taylor Blvd and National Turnpike. If you know of any businesses, churches or other groups that want to participate, please direct them to the website. In other news, we had a great Grand Opening with Roosters on Dixie. The restaurant looks great and they should do very well in the Shively Center. We really have some momentum going and I hope that you will get involved with the Dream Team. Join our Marketing Committee and be a part of the excitement.

To the SWDT, kudos on your implementation of the Avenue Banners on Dixie Highway!!!
Great appearance and solid message!

That being said and not intending to diminish your efforts or results, I'd like to point out that at the intersection of Dixie and Gene Snyder's off ramp, the spelling on the banner for Farnsley as in the "Farnsley-Moremen Landing". is Fanrsley and not as it should be, Farnsley.

I believe that the misspelling of the name of this jewel in Southwest Louisville, only furthers the perceptions of the area as inferior.

I also believe in the SWDT efforts to provide new growth, renaissance and revival for the area
as well as Southwest Hospitality, Pride, Excellence and Unity.

My request is that each sign be reviewed for proper spelling and if necessary changed so they can reflect SWDT goals and so "they will speak our message of welcome, and, of our wonderful quality of life to all those who pass by." (Quote from a letter by Robert Price, President SWDT)

Thank you & All the Best,
Doug Schuble

We did see that mispelling of the banner for Farnsley Moreman and it will be corrected in the next few weeks. We have verified the other banners as correct. Thanks for the post and for the kind words for the Dream Team.

I'm having trouble viewing the old messages from the Marketing forum. Mr. Childers, I believe you were asking how we decide what projects to work on and what goals we have? We have so many different things going on now, it would be tough to write all of them, including putting another large banner up on Dixie in Valley Station, beginning the planning of a Mayoral candidate debate in the South End. Working with the Ft. Knox BRAC group to see if we can entice people coming to work at Ft. Knox to relocate in Southwest Jefferson County. We already are about half way finished with a book about the South End. These ideas are things we have been working on for the last year to year and a half. Hard to describe how all of these things have come together. Please let me know what other information I can give you and please make an effort to come to our January Dream Team meeting.
